Steel Spring Isolaters
SILENT WORKING AND LIVING ENVIRONMENT: FOR RESIDENTIAL AND UTILITY BUILDINGS
Facilities are being installed in – and on – an increasing number of residential complexes, offices, hospitals, schools and other non-residential buildings with a view to climate and energy transition, such as emergency power generators, heat pumps, HVAC and cooling systems.
Often, they also have a negative impact on a comfortable living and working environment as the systems can cause annoying vibrations and noise (a low, continuous humming sound) that are transmitted through building structures.
Rubber Design’s expertise in the maritime industry provides a solution for this; what works in ships also works in buildings on land.
New legislation, stricter requirements
Since 1 January 2024, the introduction of the new Environment and Planning Act in the Netherlands has brought stricter regulations on environmental quality, including requirements relating to noise and vibrations.
Thanks to Rubber Design, installation companies and technical service providers can now meet these requirements. We have noticed that when it comes to the installation of HVAC systems and generators, the primary focus is on airborne noise nuisance for the surrounding area.
However, sooner or later, complaints arise due to a different cause: vibrations and structure-borne noise.
Without proper damping, this is inevitable. After all, installations are always connected in some way to a building’s structure. It is therefore essential to pay close attention to vibration isolation and maximum noise reduction at the source. Rubber Design offers a wide range of effective solutions, including:
- rubber/metal vibration isolators
- steel springs
- expansion joints
- hanging elements
As much as 95% insulation
Rubber Design’s solutions are measurable and demonstrably highly effective. The innovative use of rubber and/or steel springs results in very low natural frequencies, prevents resonance, and achieves isolation of well over 95%. It is no coincidence that we refer to our solutions as ‘the silent revolution’ in climate transition.
